Barnes and Noble (B & N), the largest American book retailer, is offering a new service called Nook for Web that allows users to read ebooks in their browsers. The ability to read e-book in a browser can be a convenient option for those who do not own or do not have access to a dedicated smartphone, tablet or e-reader. With the increased adoption of devices like tablets and smartphones, the demand for ebooks and ebook writing service providers is also increasing. Services like Nook for Web further increase the accessibility of ebooks.
A great thing about B & N’s new service is that it can be synchronized with any NOOK app or device. This means that you can start reading the book on your tablet from the point where you stopped while reading on your browser and vice versa. The service also offers options for adjusting text size and font. Moreover, you can let everyone know what you are reading through social networks like Twitter and Facebook.
The newly launched service runs on all popular browsers like Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome and Safari. Registration for NOOK for Web is free. The service offers instant access to a wide variety of ebooks. The purchase options offered by devices like NOOK Tablet and others are available on NOOK for Web as well. B & N is offering users who sign up for the service before the 26th of July 6 bestselling e-books free of cost. These include Kim Carpenter’s The Vow, James Rollins’s Map of Bones, Candace Bushnell’s Sex and the City, Tennant Redbank’s Brave, Patricia Scultz’s Perfect Island Gateways and Gertrude Chandler Warner’s The Boxcar Children Summer Special.
