Pinterest Mobile App users have a Lot to Look Forward to

Pinterest has now made the mobile application version of their website as feature-packed as the desktop version. Pinterest has announced that the latest versions of their mobile apps – Android 1.5 and iOS 2.4 will have numerous new features to make it easier for users to interact with others and to find pins.

Some of the new features of Pinterest’s mobile app development are:

Improved search option

Just like Google Instant, Pinterest will now suggest search terms as a user types in the search bar. Users will now also be able to see all the recent searches that they have conducted on Pinterest regardless of whether they were done from a desktop or mobile device. Using the settings option, users can clear their search history anytime they want.

Notifications

Users who use Pinterest from their desktops may have already noticed the updated look of the website. One of the major changes to the website was its notifications feature. The feature was moved to the left hand side and collapsed into a tab on the upper right hand corner. This change made it easier for users to notice notifications. The updated notifications feature is now available on the Pinterest mobile apps.

Users will get notifications when they are mentioned in other comments or if another user has commented on their pins. Pinterest has also launched the push notification feature for mobile apps allowing users to get notifications without opening the Pinterest app on their mobile devices.

Mentions

This Pinterest feature is similar to the mentions feature on Twitter and it was launched a while back on the desktop version of Pinterest. Now users of the Pinterest mobile app can mention or give a shout out to a friend by prefixing the “@” symbol before their user names in comments. Once a user mentions a friend, the friend will receive a notification.

There are many more features that Pinterest has added to its updated mobile apps. Some of the other new features allow users to send pins to others, invite friends to pin on group boards, amongst other things.
