Released last July, Google+ was expected to take on its competitors Facebook and Twitter in a huge way. But unfortunately, according to the latest report by ComScore Inc, users spent a mere 3.3 minutes on Google+ on an average, while its competitor Facebook scored high with users spending on an average, a whopping 7.5 hours on it!
According to the ComScore report, Google+’s usage graph trended downwards from 5.1 minutes in November to 4.8 minutes in December and 3.3 minutes in January. The social networking site lags behind on the number of registered users too, with only 90 million users as opposed to Facebook’s 845 million users (9 times the number!).
Google+ was released last summer with much hype. With new features like circles, hangouts and so on, Google+ was touted to be the next social network superstar. But now, after almost a year, it is still trying hard to get the attention of users. Google has been trying to put Google+ on top by introducing many new changes in the form of Zynga games, business pages, new notifications flow and so on. The company has made changes to its policy to fuel the growth of Google+, but it seems like Facebook is still the preferred social network.
ComScore’s report (discussed in a recent CNN report) serves as an alarm for Google to make some changes to its G+ strategy!
